Multi-Functional Unit
Vega C’s MFU, while inheriting the outstanding performance of its predecessor for Vega, has been totally re-engineered, to cover Vega C’s specific needs, to fulfil eco-sustainability directives (RoHS, REACh) and to boost Vega C’s competitiveness. It has been designed with an industrial view, making use of modern commercial components, carefully selected, and manufactured in a highly automated lead-free production line.
The Multi-Functional Unit (MFU) integrates critical functions for the launcher, being the electronic unit with more interfaces with the rest of the avionics system.
Airbus Crisa has been entitled also to the design and production of the upper stage harness and the MIL-STD-1553B harness for the entire launcher.

Main functions:
- Power conditioning and distribution to the rest of the avionics’ subsystems
- Driving of different types of actuators: electrovalves, explosive and non-explosive devices
- Generation of the configuration commands for the Safeguard subsystem
- Services to the Payloads, as dry loop commands or power lines
