Digital video electronics

The NG Modular Front-End Electronics is a novel approach for video electronics which provides a flexible unit to manage CMOS detectors with digital outputs. With a core module based on an AMD Kintex UltraScale FPGA and a low noise DC/DC converter module, it is capable of managing up to 5 detectors with a total throughput of 40 Gbps.

Digital Video Electronics

Features

Main functions:

  • Management of digital output CMOS sensors
  • Flexible architecture built around a reprogrammable KU060 PGAs with signal and pixel processing, managed by a NanoXplore RadHard FPGA
  • Low noise redunded DC/DC conversion module
  • Implements Optical HSSL for video data output

Key parameters:

  • Up to 5 digital output Detectors and up to 40 Gbps video data
  • Standard I/Fs: LVDS-based Serial link and SpaceFibre
  • Volatile (16 Gbit DDR4) and non-volatile (NOR FLASH) memory
  • 6U form factor with 6HP pitch and extended length

Analog video electronics

Front-end electronics are a key element of the detection chain for Earth observation spacecraft and instruments on astronomical observatories.

With products adapted to the main detector technologies (CCD, CMOS and photodetectors) and breakthroughs such as Europe’s first 16-bit analog-to-digital FEE for spaceflight (on the Gaia spacecraft’s Proximity Electronics Modules), Airbus Crisa has earned its position as the European’s leading company in this sector.
